Sam Hamilton serves as the Deputy Australian Chief Veterinary Officer with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, where he helps to address and reduce risks to Australia’s animal health and promote the adoption of a One Health approach to the development of national policy. With a focus on AMR, Sam is committed to fostering collaboration across sectors to safeguard the effectiveness of antimicrobials.
Sam’s work with SAAFE is a natural extension of his role, aligning with key national strategies like the National AMR Strategy 2020 and Beyond, the One Health Master Action Plan, and the Animal Sector AMR Action Plan. As part of this collaboration, Sam and his team provide invaluable in-kind support to help drive meaningful research and policy outcomes.
